I found a location on 4th Street extremely good. I would not recommend the one on Central. The only thing wrong with the 4th Street location is the sign is hard to see driving down the street. And the landscaping looks like it's an abandoned building. Fix a sign so you can see it better. Clean up the landscaping so looks like someone cares this would be an awesome location
Yes I believe they do!
Might want to call him for that answer as most places don't monitor their Google Maps pages.
Yes. In fact, I highly recommend dining in. Cool, old home converted into a restaurant.
Not really sure on the edge of the house but I'm 58 years old and I know that house is older than that so I don't know if there's any history on the house or not
I didn't see that on the menu.
GOOD FOOD ? YES Mr. Powdrell's BBQ house is waiting for you!!
If you want some great Texas style BBQ then go no further. We only got the lunch style portions and they were a great size for the price. Situated in a Southern style feel with a lot of history. They even have kids menus with generous portions of food for our little ones. Very friendly and accommodating host and waitress. We'll definitely be going back.
Food was amazing the family loved it and also did I . Thank you and God bless
Powdrell's has always been consistent and tasty bbq
Ok, Mr. Powdrells has always been my "go-to" for barbeque. I've been a fan of Powdrells for almost 30 yrs but the last few times I've been there the quality is lacking. The ribs are tough, beans aren't fully cooked, even the potato salad is different. And to add insult to injury, when asked for extra sauce, I even said I'd pay for it, I was denied. I don't know what happened to my favorite bbq spot but looks like I'm going to have to find another spot.
Mr. Powdrell's is the best bbq in abq. They're always on point. Their sauce is outta this world. The food is all delicious. Best of all, they're incredibly friendly. They'll come and engage with you, remember you if you're a regular, and make sure you got everything you needed. I just got a huge meal for about 8 people to share and I couldn't be happier. Keep it up, Powdrell's! Abq loves you.
The one on 4th Street is the best barbecue you can get
Excellent service and great tasting food. The rib meat literally fell off the bone.
1st time ordering from here for dinner. So pleasantly surprised! We ordered the bbq brisket and it has a wonderful smoked flavor and the bbq sauce is perfect. A hint of sweetness without being overly saccharine. We only ordered 1 pint of potato salad, as that is usually more than enough for 2 of us, but this is the best potato salad I’ve ever had. Has definitely been riced or finely diced so no large chunks of potato and just the perfect amount of sweetness. The onion rings and okra were old school good. Neither of us cared for the sausage. We ordered to go and the young man at the front was super nice and friendly. This is our new “go to” for BBQ.
Good barbecue. Had the Combo Plate and was not disappointed in anything.
Quite possibly the best BBQ sandwich I've ever had! Quite possibly the biggest too.
Always great barbeque. Outside not well lighted. Looks closed at night
Fantastic and clean, the staff was super friendly and the food was amazing! Definitely an amazing hidden jewel on fourth street just south of monaño. Established in the 60s with this location having been here since 1984, they are a fantastic stop. We got to try our first taste of collard greens here and enjoyed it, worth every penny! We definitely will be coming by more often!
Great food the beef ribs and po boy is the best in town
This is the best barbeque in the states! I have traveled all over the world and I can't find a better sandwich. The barbeque beef sandwich is my favorite along with the potato salad and black eyed peas. The flavors are intense, bold and will leave you wanting more.
Now you want really good BBQ you go to Powdrells. Their Collard greens amazing. The potato salad incredible. All their meats will have you coming back for more! The staff is super friendly real down to earth. Everything about this place is just wonderful!
The food is generally excellent and the staff is very friendly. They make you feel at home.
This is the place to get your smoked turkey for any occasion. They always prepare the turkey so it is just melt in your mouth delicious. Can't wait to carve it.
If you like southern style bbq this is the spot. When they are a little bit busy prepare to wait for service.
Amazing place to eat. I work at Auto Therapy across the street, after smelling them cooking all day I had to try it out! I wasn't disappointed either, amazing food good price and excellent service I highly recommend trying it out
This restaurant is in a wonderful historic house with deco brick. The food at Mr. Powdrell's is always wonderful. The Powdrell family is friendly and accommodating. They also cater.
This place has been open for years and I have to say it does not disappoint. The food here is great tasting, especially the bbq sauce. It's setting is an old house with tables set up throughout the different rooms. It is wheelchair accessible. I do have to say, upon walking in, the gentleman was not very welcoming or friendly. The waitress was really nice and I believe the owner came by and asked us how the food was and was very talkative and friendly. I would recommend giving this place a try, I recommend trying the okra, whatever its breaded/coated with is very good. If you read my review please hit the like button. Thank you and enjoy!
Hands down our family's favorite BBQ ! Try the deep fried battered crispy okra. We had dinner there this evening, and will be back soon ! Mike/
Well this place was far from the hype. Came in from out of town. I asked for okra and it was so burnt, unfortunately, that the okra, all of it, became hollow in the middle and oversaturated with oil. The cook had no Pride and instead of remaking it, they sent it out anyway. Now the food is not cheap. So I was expecting everything to be done with pride and love. But that's not the case. I could not finish my brisket. Between the burnt oily okra and the brisket, I left my $20 meal uneatin. I did manage to eat the small portion of Mac and cheese though. But I was so upset that I didn't get to eat this meal. Because I felt sick to my stomach Midway through the meal and didn't recover for two days. I spit most of the okra back out it was so disappointing.
Great ribs and Mac and cheese
Love those beef ribs, that's the only place that I know of that' sells beef ribs. Love to eat there. Try it out guys..😋 yummy😋
I have only visited their takeout window, so I cannot speak about the sit down part of the restaurant, but if it is anything like the takeout windows it must be great. I’ve had all of the sandwiches and they are all very good, but the highlight has always been the Potato Salad. It is made with riced potatoes, so there are no big chunks of potatoes. The Onion Rings are also a must for any sandwich order for me, a half order is plenty for one person. I’m getting hungry just writing this review.
The Po’Boy sandwich which isn’t listed on the menu but occasionally appears as a special and is always available if you know to order it is to die for. Expect a “foodgasm” in your mouth if you order it. Delicious legit barbecue and “down home” sides. Make sure you come hungry cuz you won’t leave that way.
The girl who works is very pretty and nice. I like this food. Thank you
Very good BBQ pork ribs!
Im so disappointed in this place for the 1st time.... I always get treat amazing by Richard and when he isnt there i feel like i get cheated out of money...i paid for 3 lbs of tips and ends and there is no way this half a container is 3 lbs. And also order a full order of zucchini and that is super short also. Plus we go there for the amazing service Richard gives us as loyal customers and then bam we get shorted from other employees. We will never eat there without richard being there again. Learn customer service
This place is always been fantastic the sweet potato pie is ridiculously good and I just can't get enough of that barbecue sauce also the mac and cheese and fried okra are amazing so is the fried mushrooms appetizer
The only thing that was good was the meat! I had a beef brisket sandwich and it was great, but the sides tasted like they came out of a can. Mac n cheese yuck, and the collards although cooked well, lacked season. Potato salad tasted store bought.
I will personally never do business here again! Powdrell's refuses to service you if they don't like your face covering design or what it says. The Channel 13 news even had a segment on wearing a mask in public and a spokeswoman for the restaurant talked about refusing services to the public unless you had an appropriate mask in their opinion. There are no guidelines on wearing a mask in public and unless it has foul language printed on it then what is the problem??
Food was very very good. Just like I remember... however the front young guy was not the most friendly guy. Our waitress was the same way. No personality what so ever! When the young man filled out tea we'd say thank you each time and no response. Anyway I'd return for the food but their staff would make certain people never return. You need to feel welcomed when you enter a restaurant and we did not get that feeling at all.
Best bbq in town! Super friendly
I've been knowing the Powdrells and going to support this family owned business for over 3 decades, I went there last night I was truly disappointed, I ordered a 2 meat meal to go, there were 3 small (pinky size cut into quarters) sausage, a portion size boneless chicken about the size of a small piece of thigh size, the okra had French fries (FF wasn't 1 of my size dishes) the 2nd size dish was baked beans and it was instead pinto beans, the meat had no sauce on it nor was sauce provided in my carry out bag when I got home, this service was nothing close to my experiences over the previous 3 decades, sorry for this report
This spot is good! Good prices, large portions and the staff are constantly super friendly.
Not bad, first visit. Sides were delicious, green beans and collared greens, the ribs were great and the beef was decent. Chicken was chopped and good, but the sausages could easily be mistaken for mediocre hot dogs.Unfortunately everything was drenched in BBQ sauce (didn't know it wasn't served on the side) that was s but sweet and some of the measures were cold.Sampled the wings as well, very good but also tossed in BBQ sauce so that's mostly what you tasted. Next time we'll order everything naked and the wings with hot sauce.Good service from a very friendly staff.
Our waitress didn't seem to have a personality or want to even be at work. Being the person I am I still continued to say Thank you and be polite. Food was good for being the first time eating there. Customer service just brought the whole experience to a low 3/5 :(
This spot is my favorite. I go to a lot of restaurants but here I constantly return again and again. The crew is very attentive and the cuisine they cook is so yummy. I am always happy to have a nice meal in this place. I recommend this place with pleasure.
When I first walked to the door I smelled the BBQ and I got even hungrier than I was! I had their 6” Po Boy with 3 meats on a bun that looked like it was 8” long! And the next time I will have the coleslaw on the side as it tasted great on the sandwich!! Yes, needless to say, I’ll be back!
Such a wonderful place to eat. Great food. Easy listening jazz, atmosphere great for conversation.
Amazing! A wonder smokey flavored BBQ! I enjoyed the beef brisket but they do pork, chicken and smoked sausage as well! You can smell its awesomeness in the parking lot! Love this.... highly recommend! Oh and the service was great!
GREAT FOOD AND BEST SERVICE!!! Will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone visiting or in Albuquerque, NM. Delicious!!!!
Had dinner here, the service was good. Started off with the cornbread, it was flat more like pancakes but was delicious. The sides were good, though coleslaw was bland. The meats were alright, though dry, the sauce was not very flavorful. We tried the peach cobbler, though it was not enjoyable. If you are looking for great barbecue, I would suggest looking at other restaurants.
Have eaten at Mr.Powdrell's many times the food is excellent, the owner is a super nice guy, if you want good bbq this is the place
Food was good. The black eyed peas tasted more like crowder peas, but I’m from the south. Could just be that we prepare them differently. The greens were a little bit too juicy and vinegary than I care for, but they were palatable. The fried okra was incredible.
Ordered through delivery service. Husband and I visiting just for the night. He got wings & fries, I got the pork sandwich & fries. We also ordered the Mac & cheese and fried pickles. I am from the south so BBQ and Mac & cheese is something I am very picky about. This did not disappoint!! Very good! We thoroughly enjoyed I meal!!!
My baseline for barbecue is Rudy's, so trying out Mr. Powdrell's was a welcome surprise. Nestled in a picturesque little building in the north valley, I'm looking forward to getting to sit down and enjoy the meats once the dining room reopens. The staff was friendly and ordering over the phone was smooth. The meats are pulled into fine little chunks glazed with a generous amount of sweet sauce. I really liked the beef and thought there was a good smokiness to the meat. The chicken was lacking in smokiness but my kids still liked it. The macaroni and cheese was also quite good, and lost nothing in flavor or texture when I finished off the reheated leftovers the next day.
